Company profile

It starts with the commitment Image matters. A well-considered wardrobe reinforces the professionalism of your organisation. It affirms to your customers and clients that you care. Perhaps most important of all, it enthuses your staff, boosting team spirit and pride in being business professionals. At Booker~Spalding, we welcome the opportunity to work with you to create a distinctive and highly durable wardrobe for your people. We're leaders in the field - leaders in creating quality wardrobes. For many years we've designed, manufactured, and managed ordering and delivery of wardrobes for international financial and banking corporations, public sector and government organisations. Our garments are widely respected. We source fabrics from the same mills that supply leading European and American markets. These superfine fabrics are appealing drape and stretch; they are beautifully comfortable as well as beautiful to the eye. But quality doesn’t start with fabric. It starts with our commitment. Commitment to design excellence and innovation; commitment to ensuring you find the whole process of creating the wardrobe satisfying; commitment to making ordering and support effortless; and commitment to our being a socially and environmentally responsible business – a team with professional integrity and deep pride in what we do. Such commitment is woven through all we do. 1923 the start of the thread The Booker~Spalding story began in 1923 when T.R. Booker menswear started. In 1952 a fledgling company W.E. Spalding was founded by William Spencer, importing quality fabrics from the Midlands of the United Kingdom. He did the job well: the business became secure and successful. After some decades the focus evolved into design and manufacture of women’s daywear coats. Later still, under the leadership of William’s son Graham, it shifted into women’s fashion wear. Looking back on our fashion collections of the 1960s and 70s – including labels ‘Inspirations’, ‘Eyeful’, ‘Hill Street’, and ‘Just For You’ – it’s clear we’ve moved on as a modern, internationally focused business. At the same time, those fashion street years still influence what Booker~Spalding is today, melding an understanding of what people want to wear at work; of how to enliven a corporate wardrobe with emotional warmth. In 1982 our focus turned to corporate wear. Foreseeing the growth in the market, Spalding teamed up with Booker to enable us to provide a one stop shop for our growing customer base. The merger brought about a name change to form Booker~Spalding. Our heritage remains a key to excellence. Carrying on this tradition, William’s grandchildren are actively involved at a senior level in the business.
